After stimulants, someone has not slept and is becoming suspicious
Prolonged wakefulness, agitation and suspiciousness after stimulants can shift quickly from worrying behaviour to a medical emergency.

Signs requiring emergency care
Call 112 for chest pain, breathing difficulty, seizures, high temperature, severe confusion, hallucinations, uncontrollable agitation or threats to self or others. Do not argue with delusional beliefs or restrain someone where that puts you at risk.
Share only what you feel ready to share. A professional can distinguish an emergency from a planned-care need and suggest one realistic next step.
Reduce stimulation
If there is no immediate danger, speak briefly and calmly, reduce noise and people, avoid unexpected touch and keep yourself a safe exit. Do not reinforce suspicious beliefs or ridicule them.
Do not use alcohol or random tablets
Mixing substances can worsen breathing, heart rhythm and consciousness. Do not give someone else's sleeping tablets or sedatives. Water and a cool room do not replace assessment when the condition is worsening.
After stabilisation
Even if the person sleeps and appears better in the morning, discuss the episode with a professional. The substance, duration without sleep, psychotic symptoms, other medication and previous episodes all matter.
You can begin without sharing your whole personal history
For a first enquiry, a short description of the situation is enough. You do not have to give your full name or share sensitive details; a specialist will calmly explain the possible next steps.
- No judgement or pressure
- Only information needed for care is discussed
- Privacy rules and lawful limits are explained before treatment
